"I am a 60 year old manual therapist with a very busy practice and an important need to stay strong. Leaning over a treatment table all day decreases strength and weakens the core. "My kids and I love Melissa! I started personal training with her right after the birth of my third child, about 2 years ago when I was working on getting the baby weight off. I really struggled with getting the last 15 pounds off, but Melissa gave me a lot of advice on healthy eating, and after I changed the way I ate, the weight came off fast.
As a physician I have a hectic schedule, and she has always been very flexible with her schedule. My three children always look forward to Melissa coming over to our house to exercise. They participate in our work out sessions too. I’ve always hated exercising, and think it’s boring. I’ve joined gyms before but wouldn’t really go since it’s not an enjoyable experience. “I always knew that a healthy outside started from having a healthy inside, but it was not until I met Melissa that I learned exactly what this actually meant. I am a high school senior now preparing to apply for college, but when I started the 8-week program with Melissa, I was just a naive Junior living with ignorance towards how I treat my body.
Melissa helped me realize that there is more to life than just mechanically doing what we are told to do (in my case, neglecting sleep to get good grades). She opened a door to a brighter way of life for me by teaching me specific habits and ensuring that I would never fall back from them. These habits completely altered the way I saw my world and I was just happier with myself in general.
In my case, weight was less of a problem than overall physical and mental well-being, but joining the program immediately blew away all my insecurities in the blink of an eye (and I did end up losing ten pounds as a bonus!). "I started working with a trainer for the first time in my life in January. It's made such a huge difference that I wish I'd done it sooner. She really helps me with my form, encourages me, and gets me to do things I'd never have thought of such as doing bicep curls while standing on one leg on an upside down Bosu ball. She keeps it fun and interesting while pushing me just enough (but not too much) and she's become a real friend. I agree that it's a great investment in your health and well-being and I highly recommend it!"

"I have known Melissa through yoga since 2017. She and I have attended some of the same classes and she has also been a teacher/class leader for me. I am a recently retired, very active, adult. I enjoy swimming laps, weights, walking/jogging/hiking, and snow skiing when available. I also played competitive adult league tennis for 35 years. As I aged, I added yoga to my regimen 10 years ago and have had more instructors than I can remember. I can say unequivocally that Melissa is one of the best yoga teachers I have observed. Melissa is an awesome coach who has helped me with a long overdue lifestyle change. She introduced me to Ayurveda practices and how to make it a part of my daily routine. It was extremely helpful receiving new recipes, meeting weekly to talk about health practices, and her being accessible to answer questions. She showed me that this is not part of a “fad diet” but a transformation to make healthy choices that are sustainable. I recently went a step further and had her help me become more disciplined in my workouts. We set a goal during the first session and each week she challenged me to set the bar higher and higher. Melissa is one of my favorite people. Not only is she a good friend, she is also a great yoga instructor. Melissa
has been a hugh blessing in my life. When I began seeing Melissa I weighed 171 pounds, had done no exercising in several years and was experiencing some really bad pain in my left hip. We began with walking and getting to know each other progressing to weights, high intensity training and yoga. There was a good amount of stretching and strengthening of the muscles around my hips to relieve the pain. Early on in the process Melissa kindly, and without judgement, suggested using the MyFitnessPal app two or three times before I finally agreed to try it. And the real weight loss began! In 4 months Melissa had me down 25 pounds, from a size 14 to an 8! My hip is so much better and I FEEL good again, emotionally and physically! Another important aspect of Melissa’s training style is her ability to encourage by drawing attention to what is good. Definition in the shoulder and arm muscles, legs, collar bone and even the increase in strength. She identifies and points out the good making me want to come back for more!
